Virginia car inspections

I recently read this article from the Daily Press regarding an idea Governor Kaine has proposed for car inspections. Rather than requiring cars to be inspected every year, he wants to change that to every two years. Raising the cost from $16 to $20 they say will save us $12 over the two-year course, but they are also wanting to up the cost of renewing a drivers license.

It’s interesting the way society progresses. In recent years, James City County has stopped requiring county decals on cars. Now the state wants to require inspections every two years. I believe this is a good move, to simplify our lives just a little bit. Granted, it’s all because of the budget that these things are being recommended, so it all still stems back to government’s involvement in our lives… but it’s nice to see that the government still thinks of its citizens!
